Jean-Luc died suddenly in Nanaimo, BC. We had only just realized our dream of living on a sailboat with plans of sailing around the world. He lived his life with enthusiasm, energy and determination. He died living his dream. A skier, mountaineer, kayaker, sailor, hunter, fisherman - he did it all with joy. He was passionate, kind, loyal, funny, opinionated, meticulous, dedicated, compassionate and yes sometimes a royal pain in the ass. He was a beautiful man both inside and out. He left a strong impression on everyone he met. He had a twinkle in his eye and a warmth in his smile. I know I am not alone saying that a day doesn't go by that I don't think of him.
His spirit will always be with his family and his many friends. A debt of gratitude goes out to the residents and members at the Ladysmith Maritime Society Marina and to all those who worked so hard to save him.
"The days pass happily with me, wherever my ship sails."
